The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) held the “Zionist occupation, its fascist prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and his security minister, Itamar Ben-Gvir, fully responsibility for the life of the PFLP’s secretary-general, Ahmed Saadat, who is facing extremely critical health condition in solitary confinement in Megiddo prison, especially after he was subjected to brutal assault and abuse during his recent transfer.”
In a statement on Tuesday, the PFLP said that what the secretary-general is going through is a deliberate “Zionist crime” that comes in the context of a systematic and dangerous escalation targeting the leaders of the prisoner movement, with the aim of slowly killing them physically and psychologically through medical neglect, torture, abuse, isolation, and systematic starvation.
The PFLP has also highlighted the continued targeting of its leaders, including Politburo member, Ahed Abu Ghoulmeh, who was recently transferred to Gilboa prison under harsh conditions. Other prominent prisoners from Hamas, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), and the PFLP, such as Hassan Salameh, Abdullah Barghouthi, and Ibrahim Hamed, are also subjected to unprecedented campaigns of abuse and torture.
The group also called on Palestinians, active forces at home and in the diaspora, all free people around the world, and international human rights and humanitarian organizations to act urgently and effectively and participate in the widest possible solidarity campaign with the prisoners, in order to pressure Israel to halt these grave crimes, save the lives of the detainees, and expose these practices to global public opinion.
In recent weeks, the Israeli prison forces have escalated their attacks on the leadership of the prisoner movement as part of their barbaric crimes against Palestinian prisoners.
