11 Turkish aid-laden trucks reach blockaded Gaza

11 Trucks carrying aid shipped by Turkey arrived in blockaded Gaza Strip on Friday through Karem Abu Salem crossing.

The crossing’s director Naji Saydam said 11 trucks carrying aid reached the enclave.

Undersecretary of the Gaza-based Social Development Ministry Youssef Ibrahim said eight trucks arrived in Gaza on Thursday and Wednesday.

On Thursday the ministry in partnership with the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) distributed aid items carried onboard Aqua Stella ship to the poor and needy people in Gaza.

On Wednesday aid trucks bound for Gaza reached the coastal enclave via Karem Abu Salem crossing between Gaza and Israel. Aqua Stella ship sailed from the Turkish Mersin seaport and docked at Ashdod harbor following a 40-hour-trip.

The humanitarian aid ship carried pieces of clothing pieces of stationery kit children toys and food parcels along with 100 wheelchairs.

Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey Veysi Kaynak said the humanitarian aid was dispatched at the request of the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
