At the window of her house in the Askar refugee camp in Nablus the mother of 15-year-old Mohamed Da’das was standing with her eyes filled with tears over her dear departed child and her heart filled with patience as a martyr’s parent.
She kept watching her only male child Mohamed cuddling him with her eyes and heart as he was being carried away to his resting place by his relatives and mourners.
As for his father he could hardly speak and his tongue was only moving to pray for his son and ask Almighty Allah to bestow his mercy upon him and accept him as a martyr.
Riyad Da’das the martyr’s cousin stated in press remarks that Israeli soldiers a week ago opened live ammunition at his abdomen and seriously wounded him adding that all attempts by doctors to save him were in vain describing his martyrdom as a great honor for his cousin.
“Whenever there were confrontations you would find Mohamed. This is what our youths always do. Everyone will die but Allah chooses his loved ones as martyrs” Da’das added.
Da’das pointed out that Mohamed was the ninth martyr in his family after Israeli forces had already killed eight of his relatives affirming that he would not be the last one.
He was a well-behaved kid in the ninth grade and never harmed anyone. He was the only son of his parents who also have two daughters according to the cousin.
On November 6 scores of local residents from the new Askar refugee camp in Nablus marched in the funeral of martyr Mohamed Da’das before laying him to rest in the camp’s cemetery. The funeral began with the transfer of his body from Rafidia Hospital to his family home for a final farewell.
On November 5 Mohamed had gone with other boys from the new Askar refugee camp to the village of Deir al-Hatab near the occupied West Bank city of Nablus where Israeli forces were attacking Palestinian youths with tear gas and stun grenades according to Defense for Children International-Palestine
The young men were protesting the encroachment of Elon Moreh settlement on land that was seized from the village.
The kid “walked closer” to the soldiers approximately 30 minutes after he arrived. An Israeli sniper shot him in the abdomen when he was 50 meters away Defense for Children said.
Mohamed was transferred to Rafidia hospital in Nablus in a private car while “bleeding profusely.” Doctors pronounced him dead an hour later.
