16 Palestinian prisoners have contracted the coronavirus in the Israeli Ashkelon prison the Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS) revealed Sunday.
In a press release the non-governmental organization said some of the prisoners who caught the virus suffer from chronic diseases.
One of the infected prisoners is Iyad Nazir Omar who suffers from cancer.
The PPS held the Israeli occupation authorities responsible for the infected prisoners’ lives.
35 Palestinian prisoners are currently held in Ashkelon prison including at least 17 prisoners who suffer from chronic diseases and need constant health follow-up.
