2 Palestinian ex-prisoners arrested by PA forces

Wednesday 27-September-2017

The Palestinian Authority (PA) forces in the occupied West Bank arrested two Palestinian ex-prisoners on account of their political affiliations.

On Tuesday Palestinian ex-prisoner Samer Sawafta declared an open-ended hunger strike moments after he was arbitrarily arrested by the PA Preventive Forces in Tubas.

At the same time Palestinian ex-prisoner Abdul Rahim Daoud was arrested by the PA forces in Tulkarem after he turned himself in for questioning.

Meanwhile Palestinian young man Mohamed Ahmed has been held in the PA lock-ups in Jenin for 38 days running.

The PA chaired by Mahmoud Abbas has often tasked its forces with arresting Palestinians on account of their political affiliations and support for armed resistance against the Israeli occupation.

The arrests come at a time when Hamas Movement—Fatah’s foremost political competitor—has announced its decision to disband Gaza’s administrative committee and prop up national consensus steps that have garnered international approbation.
