3 Palestinians suffer health complications in Israeli lock-ups

Wednesday 12-September-2018

Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs on Wednesday said that a number of Palestinian prisoners held in Ofer and Megiddo jails are suffering from serious health problems as a result of the deliberate medical negligence pursued against them by the Israel Prison Service (IPS).

The commission said in a report that Jamal Hamamra 52 is suffering from severe pains in his chest as his lungs are not working well. He recently underwent medical examinations at Hadassah hospital.

Despite his bad health condition the IPS at Ofer jail does not provide him the care he needs it added.

An Israeli court lately issued a new six-month administrative detention order against Hamamara only hours before his scheduled release.

Sakher Salim 26 is suffering from hemorrhoids and he has been long waiting for the administration of Megiddo jail to allow him to undergo medical examinations and receive treatment.

Another prisoner is Yazan al-Juaidi 22 who is currently held in Ofer prison. Yazan is suffering from severe knee pains due to a previous fracture and he also has some sight problems that require special medical care.
