30000 Palestinian worshipers performed Friday prayer in the al-Aqsa Mosque in Occupied Jerusalem amid strict Israeli measures at its gates Jerusalemite sources revealed.
Israeli police were deployed in large numbers at the entrances to al-Aqsa and the Old City and checked the ID cards of Palestinians heading to the holy shrine the sources added.
Several Palestinian buses were stopped and searched while several youths were randomly detained.
During the Friday sermon the preacher of al-Aqsa Mosque Sheikh Yusef Abu Sneina called on Palestinians to intensify presence at the holy shrine.
Earlier in the morning thousands performed dawn prayer at the holy site despite Israeli restrictions.
Since the early hours of dawn hundreds of Palestinians gathered at the gates of Al-Aqsa to pray confirming the Palestinians’ spiritual links to the holy site.
Also in al-Khalil thousands of Palestinians including families performed the dawn prayers in the Ibrahimi Mosque.
Palestinian groups have earlier called for intensifying presence at Palestinian holy sites in response to the Israeli systematic Judaization policy.
