Qatari envoy Mohamed al-Emadi has said his country’s new cash aid will be doled out to 60000 poor families in the Gaza Strip as of Thursday morning.
Each family will receive a stipend of $100 from post offices across Gaza according to the previous mechanism.
Emadi said Sunday that 100000 needy families would receive the payouts but on Wednesday he stated that post offices would only hand out $100 bills to 60000 poor families.
He also said that the funds Qatar initially allocated for the remaining 40000 families $4 million would instead go to “executing other sustainable projects which will be announced in the future.”
