63 Structures in Jerusalem razed in 6 months

Tuesday 17-July-2018

A report by Jerusalem Center for Legal Aid and Human Rights on Israeli demolition operations that targeted Palestinian facilities in Occupied Jerusalem during the first six months of 2018 revealed that 63 structures have been razed in the city.

The report showed that the demolitions have led to displacement of 51 Palestinians including 21 minors and that al-Issawiya is the most affected town as eight of its facilities have been knocked down. Silwan town came in the second place whereas 12 of its buildings were razed.

The center pointed out that Israeli authorities use home demolition policy in order to expel Jerusalemites out of their homes and out of their city.

Tens of thousands of the Jerusalemites are facing demolition orders at the pretext of unpermitted construction which is a result of Jerusalem municipality refusal of Palestinian applications for construction permits.
