The Palestinian government is going to Gaza soon to see what it can do as a government in charge of all affairs Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas told a meeting for the Palestinian leadership held in Ramallah on Monday night
Commenting on intra-Palestinian reconciliation following Hamas agreement to dissolve its administrative committee that ran Gaza affairs Abbas said the Palestinian government is going to the besieged enclave soon to see what it can do as a government in charge of all affairs and then it will be clear how things will develop.
He said if all goes well and the government is allowed to perform its duties normally then the next step would be to go to presidential and legislative elections.
Abbas also said that a draft resolution is going to be submitted to the United Nations Security Council seeking full UN membership.
“One of the most prominent resolutions we will submit is full membership in the United Nations” he said at the opening of the meeting. “As you know we submitted this request in 2011 but it was rejected for various reasons. God willing these reasons are now removed because we are very much interested in becoming a full member of the United Nations.”
