Abbas meets Israeli delegation

Wednesday 4-January-2017

PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas met Tuesday a delegation of the Israeli leftist party Meretz headed by its Secretary General Mussi Raz in Ramallah.

During the meeting Abbas stressed “the Palestinian adherence to achieve peace based on international resolutions which recognize Palestine as a sate according to its 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.”

At the same time Abbas said that he does not recognize 2334 UN resolution as anti-Israeli.

“I’ve looked over the resolution and haven’t found anything against Israel only against the settlements and the illegal outposts” according to Abbas’s controversial statements.

For his part Raz congratulated Abbas for re-electing him as Fatah Movement’s chairman during the group’s seventh conference.

Raz pointed out that 1000 Israeli political figures have signed a petition calling on the French President Francois Hollande to accelerate preparation for international peace conference in Paris.

The Israeli delegation handed over a letter to Abbas from the party’s leadership expressing hope that 2017 would be “the year of peace and solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.”
