The Russian envoy for the peace process in the Middle East Sergey Vershinin arrived on Monday in Ramallah and met with the Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas in the presidential headquarters in the city.
The Russian envoy conveyed to Abbas the Russian president Vladimir Putin’s congratulations over the success of the seventh conference of Fatah movement which was held recently in Ramallah according to the official Palestinian news agency WAFA.
Vershinin affirmed his country’s support for the political settlement process based on the principle of the two-state solution and Moscow’s keenness on boosting bilateral cooperation with Palestine.
Abbas appreciated the Russian effort and ongoing support for the Palestinian cause and as reported by the Palestinian news agency it was agreed in the meeting on some important future steps which were not disclosed.
