Abu Atwan facing serious health risks due to protracted hunger strike

Palestinian prisoner Ghadhanfar Abu Atwan a 28-year-old from Dura town in al-Khalil has entered day 63 of his hunger strike in protest at his administrative detention amid growing concerns over his deteriorating health.

According to medical reports on his health condition issued by doctors about a week ago hunger-striking prisoner Abu Atwan are facing serious health risks including paralysis a chronic health issue that is hard to treat later and sudden death.

Abu Atwan was arrested in October 2020 and since then he has been serving two six-month administrative detention terms. He started his hunger strike on May 5.

In a related context Munif Abu Atwan who has been serving a life prison term for18 years has been on hunger strike for 13 days in solidarity with his hunger-striking nephew Ghadhanfar.
