Abu Marzouk: PNC invitation will be considered when received

Wednesday 28-December-2016

Member of Hamas’s political bureau Dr. Mousa Abu Marzouk said that the Movement did not receive any invitation from the Palestinian National Council (PNC) to attend the meeting of its preparatory committee.

Abu Marzouk stated on Twitter on Wednesday that once the PNC sends Hamas an invitation the Movement will consider it.

A number of Palestinian factions including Hamas the Popular and Democratic fronts for the Liberation of Palestine and the Islamic Jihad thoroughly rejected Abbas’s monopolization of the PNC and the place and time of its coming session without any internal Palestinian consensus.

Hamas denied the news that it agreed to participate in the preparatory committee of the PNC.

The spokesman of Hamas Hazim Kasem stressed that Fatah must comply with all the reconciliation agreements that were signed work on reforming the institutions of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and form a new elected national council that represents all Palestinians.

The Islamic Jihad movement refused holding the PNC session before starting consultations and organizing appropriate mechanisms to end the current deadlock.

The Movement’s media office chief Daud Shehab said that the reformation of the PLO and organization of the PNC’s sessions are processes that affect the entire Palestinian people and consultations must be made on the issue within the provisional leadership framework including Hamas the Islamic Jihad and other Palestinian factions.
