Abu Marzouk: There is a consensus on forming new unity gov’t

Tuesday 14-February-2017

Member of Hamas’s political bureau Mousa Abu Marzouk has reiterated his Movement’s support for the formation of a new national government affirming there was an agreement in this regard during the recent meeting for the preparatory committee of the Palestine National Council in Beirut.

Abu Marzouk made his remarks in an interview conducted with him by al-Araby satellite channel on Monday.

The Hamas official said that there was a national consensus on the need to form another unity government and protect all forms of resistance against the occupation during the Beirut meeting between Palestinian factions.

He affirmed that labeling the resistance against the occupation as useless was always political wrangling stressing that the Israeli occupation state has no future on the Palestinian land.

The Hamas official criticized the Palestinian Authority and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) for upholding the negotiation option despite the absence of any Israeli respect for the so-called peace process.

In another context Abu Marzouk condemned the US Congress for rejecting the UN Security Council’s latest resolution on Israel’s settlement activities and described the new presidential team of president Donald Trump as hostile to the Palestinian people.
