Abu Zuhri: Abbas should change his convictions for peace project

Wednesday 21-February-2018

The Hamas official Sami Abu Zuhri on Wednesday wondered if the Palestinian Authority president Mahmoud Abbas would change his convictions regarding the peace process following the latest statements by the US ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley.

Abu Zuhri said on Twitter that Haley’s statements at the UN Security Council (UNSC) are “rude” and reflect the US hostile position against the Palestinian people.

“We hope this will push president Abbas to change his convictions and realize that the peace project is over” he added.

The US president Donald Trump’s envoys son-in-law Jared Kushner and negotiator Jason Greenblatt sat silently as Haley said addressing Abbas who had left the hall following his speech at the UNSC “Our negotiators are ready to talk but we will never chase after you.”

Haley continued to say “You don’t have to praise our decision (moving the US embassy to Jerusalem). You don’t even have to accept it but know this: That decision will not change.”
