Addameer Human Rights Association warned that the Palestinian prisoner Khalil Al-Awawdeh who has been hunger striking for 141 days is in danger of sudden death.
“The international community’s inaction on the issue of the Palestinian prisoners and detainees is gravely concerning” the Association said in a press statement on Monday.
It held the international community responsible for the lives of Palestinian prisoners calling on the International Committee of the Red Cross and all community organizations to act urgently to end Awawdeh’s administrative detention and prevent any further deterioration of his health.
Prisoner Awawdeh who has been detained since December 2021 was subjected to an Israeli administrative detention order for four months for the second time despite his deteriorating health condition.
Awawdeh suffers from severe joint pain headache and poor eyesight. Furthermore he cannot walk and uses a wheelchair to move. However the Israeli prison administration keeps deliberately delaying providing him with medical examination claiming that his health condition is not serious.
