Al-Azhar al-Sharif on Tuesday condemned Israel’s closure of al-Aqsa Mosque and attack on Palestinian worshipers.
Al-Azhar said in an official statement that this “dangerous escalation” falls in line with Israel’s incessant attempts to impose a new reality that would change the Arab and Islamic identity of Jerusalem and al-Aqsa Mosque.
Al-Azhar hailed the steadfastness of the Palestinian people in Jerusalem and their struggle for freedom and dignity.
It also called on the international community to assume its responsibilities and pressure Israel to respect international laws.
