Al-Makhtoum: A Palestinian traditional mix that is coming back

“Dates honey olive oil sesame seeds” used to be popular in Palestine for both people and visitors as the best Palestinian food which was called Al-Makhtoum in the past which means the best a Palestinian could have at home.

This traditional food became absent from the tables of the Palestinians and could be found only in some houses then it became known to people only through novels and chats about the beautiful Palestinian past.

Reviving the idea
Ahmed Taher Al-Hassanat 34 years old is a young Palestinian who was raised in a Bedouin family whose roots go back to the 1948 occupied village of Beer Al-Saba’a. His father was one of the people who used to have this meal from whom he inherited. Many people in the Gaza Strip do not know this mixture which he described as the most delicious food that could be eaten in the morning or evening.

Al-Hassanat who holds a Bachelor of Education and works as a consultant in marketing confirms that he wanted to revive this heritage in a modern way by adding some additions to it that increase the public’s interest in it which he has actually achieved.

Production and promotion
Al-Hassanat told the Palestinian Information Center that he did not think of selling this product but when he processed it and packed it inside a glass and posted it on his Facebook page he was asked dozens of questions about the secret of this mixture and its components and how to get it.

At that time the young man had a very good idea. He began to send some samples as gifts to some of his friends to taste it and those who liked it were given more. The responses were positive and he started selling it to people.

Royal food
The young man had much success and he begun to prepare quantities of the mixture which he called “Royal Makhtoum” referring to it as the food of kings and the food of people who are looking for the best food and the highest quality.

Al-Hassanat began to receive the requests of friends and associates and began selling his product until the demand grew. He reveals that he accelerated the acquisition of a trade label and a logo for the product received some offers by companies that wish to adopt this project while others asked for quantities of the product.

Ahmed Al-Hassanat said that he refused to have any of the companies adopt the product. “To maintain the quality of the product” he explained noting that the quality of the ingredients is a very important element in its distinctive taste.

“I want this project to be my future project that will achieve stability for me and my family and I will never give up on quality and on including the best elements that offer a distinctive mix to the customer.”

Benefits of Al-Makhtoum
Al-Hassanat asserts that many people can work in this project. “What distinguishes this mix is the criteria for each component and the way they are cooked” he says.

Al-Hassanat reveals that Al-Makhtoum has great health benefits most notably physical strength increased concentration and positive energy.

He points out that dozens of confirmations assure these benefits. “Al-Mahktoum is a pharmacy in itself” he says and people will discover after a while that it has far greater benefits.
