The Turkish Minister of Religious Affairs Muhammad Gormaz strongly condemned the Israeli assaults on the Muslim worshipers outside al-Aqsa Mosque on Tuesday evening.
“I condemn in the strongest terms the attack by the Israeli soldiers on al-Aqsa’s ‘peace ambassador’ former Mufti and current Imam Sheikh Ekrema Sabri” Gormaz posted on Twitter.
Gormaz said advocates of peace and indiscrimination will never remain mum over ongoing Israeli attempts to divide al-Aqsa as has been the case with the Ibrahimi Mosque in al-Khalil which has in Gormaz’s terms been turned into “ a prison.”
On Tuesday evening the Israeli occupation forces brutally assaulted a group of Palestinian worshipers as they performed Ishaa (night) prayers in congregation outside al-Aqsa Mosque.
Muslim worshipers continue to refuse to enter al-Aqsa through the metal detectors set up by the Israeli forces near the main entrances to the site.
