43-year-old Palestinian woman Bayan Samir Hashash from the occupied West Bank province of Nablus was pronounced dead a few days ago after she succumbed to a disease infecting her body.
Bayan and her family had frequently appealed to the concerned authorities for urgent treatment but to no avail. Her health condition had gradually exacerbated until she breathed her last.
Bayan had been diagnosed with breathing disorders chest pains severe cough and pulmonary fibrosis.
Bayan’s appeals to the Palestinian Prime Minister Rami al-Hamdallah had gone unheeded.
The casualty’s husband Samir said Dr. Asil Tal at the Arab Specialist Hospital identified her condition as critical as she suffered from hypoxemia (low blood oxygen) and low white blood cell count. She had also been in urgent need of a lung transplant surgery.
“We knocked at all doors launched appeals on social media and posted videos while she was on the verge of death but no single party has stepped in” the husband added.
Her children relatives and neighbors were shocked as soon as reports on Bayan’s death reached her hometown in Balata camp east of Nablus.
Her family members slammed the Palestinian Health Ministry for dragging its feet over Bayan’s appeals for urgent treatment.
Bayan is the mother of eight sons and daughters. A daughter of her own refused to get married at an early age so as to assist her ailing mother.
Nahr al-Ouja association mourned the deceased mother saying that her funeral procession will take place at noon time Thursday.
