Arouri: Hamas ties with Iran taking turn for better

Tuesday 24-October-2017

Hamas bonds with Iran have seen a remarkable progress over recent months Deputy Hamas Chief Saleh al-Arouri said on Monday.

“Our relationship with Iran is based on our shared commitment to the Palestinian cause” al-Arouri told PIC.

“The Palestinian cause is a matter of life or death for the Palestinians just as it is for the Iranians. Thus it is no wonder that a strong relationship between the two peoples sees the day” he said.

Al-Arouri stressed Iran’s pro-Palestine position and support of the Palestinian national liberation struggle and anti-occupation resistance.

“Our ties with Iran have never been severed. Our political bonds in the face of the Israeli occupation have started to recover” stated the Hamas leader.

He added that Hamas is ready to establish friendly ties with all states and organizations that support the Palestinian anti-occupation struggle. “However never ever shall we meddle in their internal affairs.”

A senior Hamas delegation led by al-Arouri arrived in Tehran on Friday and held a series of meetings with Iranian officials.

“The visit comes to brief our Iranian brothers about the Cairo-brokered reconciliation deal and to garner more support for the reconciliation process” he explained.

Al-Arouri pointed out Hamas Chief Ismail Haneyya has reached out to several leaders to that very end.

The Deputy Hamas Chief hailed the Iranians for warmly welcoming the Hamas delegation and candidly speaking up for Palestinians’ infringed rights.
