Following an Israeli court decision freezing his administrative detention on Friday Palestinian prisoner Khalil Awawdeh said he would not stop his hunger strike until his jailers decide to release him.
The prisoner’s lawyer Ahlam Haddad affirmed that Awawdeh would not suspend his hunger strike because he was asking for his release and not for a freeze on his administrative detention.
On Friday the Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS) announced that the Israeli high court of justice froze the administrative detention of Awawdeh — who has been on hunger strike for about six months.
However PPS pointed out that this court decision “does not mean an end to Awawdeh’s administrative detention.”
For its part the Palestinian Commission of Detainees’ and Ex-Detainees’ Affairs described the court verdict to freeze Awawdeh’s detention as “nonsense and ridiculous” and called for not attaching importance to this Israeli decision.
