Member of the Hamas Political Bureau Husam Badran on Saturday said that reconciliation is a strategic and irreversible decision that comes within the framework of his Movement’s efforts to heal the Palestinian rift.
This statement was voiced in a meeting with the Palestinian ambassador to Lebanon Ashraf Dabbour and representatives of a number of Palestinian factions during his five-day visit to Lebanon.
Badran briefed the Palestinian delegations on the latest developments in the reconciliation file and stressed the need to reach consensus on a unified national project during the meeting scheduled to be held in Cairo on 12th November praising Egypt’s role in sponsoring the reconciliation talks.
For their part the Palestinian factions appreciated Hamas’s bold and responsible initiative to dissolve the Gaza administrative committee and provide all necessary facilities to achieve reconciliation and alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and West Bank.
They called for focusing on reforming and activating the Palestine Liberation Organization to be able to back the national project which would invest the energies of the Palestinian people against the schemes aimed at obliterating the Palestinian cause.
Badran started his visit to Lebanon by representing his Movement in a conference organized by the World Union for Resistance Scholars on the centenary of Balfour Declaration.
