OCCUPIED JERUSALEM (PIC)– Israeli war minister Ehud Barak on Thursday briefed Salam Fayyad the premier of the illegal PA government in Ramallah on latest measures taken against the Gaza Strip in the presence of Tony Blair the international quartet committee’s envoy to the region.
Hebrew press reports said that Barak spoke about the mini Israeli cabinet’s decision on Wednesday that stipulated tightening the noose on Gaza and reducing further the quantities of fuel channeled to the Strip which were already slashed a few weeks ago.
The meeting came less than 48 hours after Barak’s forces killed six Palestinians in southern Gaza.
Barak stated before the meeting that his troops would continue attacking Gaza adding that previous incursions did not succeed in halting the firing of Palestinian resistance missiles at Israeli targets.
The meeting also came in the wake of a major IOF operation in Shuwaika north of Tulkarm city at dawn Thursday that ended with rounding up 14 citizens who were recently released from PA jails in the West Bank.
Witnesses said that the operation that started at 0300 am local time witnessed violent storming of civilian homes before kidnapping those citizens who are known Hamas supporters.
A number of other Palestinians were kidnapped late Wednesday in Nablus and Qalqilia the Hebrew radio reported alleging that three machineguns and ammunitions were found in the houses of some of them.
The PA security apparatuses in the West Bank also at dawn Thursday rounded up 15 Hamas supporters in Asira al-Qebleya village south of Nablus city.
Witnesses said that hundreds of masked security men stormed their village in 30 army jeeps after passing through the IOF checkpoint at Hawara and fired in the air while breaking into citizens’ homes.
They added that the security elements beat up those who objected to their barbaric practice noting that ten citizens were injured in the scuffles and a 48-year-old man was hospitalized with a heart attack after those elements savagely broke into his home and arrested his brother.
