Baraka expressed gratitude to the government of Norway for its support for the Palestinian people and their just cause.
He briefed the Norwegian ambassador on the latest updates on the Palestinian cause and particularly on what is happening in the occupied Palestinian territories including the ongoing Israeli attacks on Palestinian citizens and holy sites the most recent of which was the Israeli Knesset’s decision that legalized building settlements on Palestinian lands in the occupied West Bank.
He touched on the Netanyahu government’s scheme to Judaize occupied Jerusalem and the systematic attacks on Islamic and Christian holy sites in Palestine especially al-Aqsa Mosque.
Hamas’s representative called on the government of Norway to intervene to stop the Israeli violations in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem and end the continued aggression and blockade on the Gaza Strip.
The two sides discussed the situation of the Palestinian refugees in Lebanon especially after the decline in the UNRWA services in the sectors of health education and relief as well as the delayed reconstruction of Nahr al-Bared refugee camp.
Baraka asked the government of Norway to continue to fund UNRWA’s budget in Lebanon in the fields of health and education and to extend relief to the displaced Palestinians coming from refugee camps in Syria and help in the reconstruction of Nahr al-Bared camp.
For her part the Norwegian ambassador welcomed Hamas’s delegation and confirmed Norway’s support for the Palestinian cause until the Palestinian people obtain their legitimate rights especially their right to return and establish their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
