Calls emerge for urgent action to save hunger strikers in Israeli jail

Friday 5-October-2018

The Palestine Prisoners Center for Studies urged all human rights institutions nationwide and overseas to take serious steps so as to save Palestinian hunger strikers in Israeli prisons before it is too late.

In a Thursday statement the center called on the International Red Cross mass media and NGOs to speak up for Palestinian detainees Omran Khatib and Khader Adnan.

Head of the center Rafat Hamdouna said 60-year-old prisoner Omran al-Khatib from Jabalia north of Gaza and serving a 45-year term has been on an open-ended hunger strike for 63 consecutive days to push for his release from Israeli dungeons where he has been locked up for over 21 years.

40-year-old Prisoner Khader Adnan from Jenin’s southern town of Arraba in the northern occupied West Bank has been on an open-ended hunger-strike for 33 consecutive days to protest arbitrary detention.
