Cancer-stricken prisoner Abu Hamid at high risk of death

Cancer has spread to new parts of prisoner Nasser Abu Hamid’s body including the brain the Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) reported adding that he is at high risk of death.

“We have expected that this would happen to prisoner Abu Hamid in the light of his serious health complications” the PPS said in a press statement on Tuesday.

The PPS confirmed that prisoner Abu Hamid’s body is no longer able to bear chemotherapy sessions stressing that his deteriorating health condition requires great efforts to demand his release as soon as possible.

“The Israeli prison administration continues to detain prisoner Abu Hamid in the Ramleh prison clinic in which dozens of Palestinian prisoners were martyred due to the Israeli policy of medical neglect” the Society asserted holding Israel fully responsible for the life of Abu Hamid and all the Palestinian prisoners.

49-year-old Nasser Abu Hamid who has been detained since 2002 underwent a medical surgery to remove a cancerous tumor in the lungs in 2021.
