Palestinian prisoner Emad Abu Romuz who suffers from serious health problems was transferred from the Israeli jail of Ofer in the West Bank to Shaare Zedek Hospital in Occupied Jerusalem.
According to the Palestinian Commission of Detainees’ and Ex-Detainees’ Affairs prisoner Abu Romuz suffers from viral hepatitis (liver inflammation) and testicular cancer and was transferred to the hospital following a sharp decline in his health condition.
The Commission held the Israeli occupation authority (IOA) fully responsible for any harm that may come to the prisoner because of its failure to provide him with proper medical care.
The Commission affirmed that the detainee needs an urgent operation to remove the affected testicle before the cancer spreads to other parts of his body.
Abu Romuz has been in jail since December 2004 serving a 25-year term.
In another statement the Commission of Detainees said that 39 female prisoners in Israeli jails are being held in Damon jail under inhumane incarceration conditions.
Some of those detainees suffer from very difficult health conditions and deliberate medical neglect like the case of prisoner Israa Jaabis who suffers from burns and needs multiple surgical procedures.
Other female prisoners who also need special medical care include prisoner Rawan Abu Ziyadah who suffers from unknown germs in the digestive system and bone problems prisoner Nasreen Abu Kamil who suffers from hypertension diabetes and sore toes prisoner Sumoud Abu Dhaher who suffers from blood issues and prisoner Anhar Hajja who is a pregnant and suffers from complications of pregnancy and physical weakness.
