The Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) strongly condemned the removal of the memorial statue of the slain anti-occupation activist Khaled Nazal by Jenin municipality.
DFLP slammed Jenin municipality and the Palestinian Authority chaired by Mahmoud Abbas for succumbing to Israeli pressure and threats.
DFLP urged the PA and Abbas to backtrack on the move and never yield in to the prescriptions of the “fascist Israeli government.”
The group called on the Palestinian masses in Jenin to push for retrieving the statue by virtue of its symbolic and national significance.
On June 15 a memorial statue was set up to pay tribute to Khaled Nazal member of the DFLP’s Central Committee in the presence of Jenin governor and mayor.
The statue was reportedly removed at the request of the PA following pressure by the Israeli occupation government.
