The Palestinian Commission of Detainees’ and Ex-Detainees’ Affairs said on Saturday that the Damon prison administration banned the Palestinian female prisoners from using the phone service in order to contact their families as a punitive measure against them.
In a statement the Commission explained that the Damon administration took the measure after the detainees refused to take the lunch meals last Thursday to pressure the jailers to transfer prisoner Azhar Assaf to hospital.
The Commission added that the health of Assaf deteriorated after the jailers delayed her transfer to the hospital for several hours.
It affirmed that the female prisoners in Damon jail are exposed to ill-treatment and medical neglect adding prisoners Assaf and Nawal Fatiha are still locked up in isolation cells.
