The village council of Deir al-Hatab east of Nablus city announced resignation in protest at the offensive practices of the Palestinian Authority (PA) security forces against the inhabitants and attempting to arrest a member of the council.
Local sources revealed that altercations erupted between the inhabitants and a joint unit of the PA security forces who stormed the village and attempted to arrest Mohammad Hussein member of the council and to confiscate a camera of the youth activist Laith Umran.
The PA joint force broke into the village to arrest and interrogate dozens of youths for their participation in an event last Friday the sources added. The youth then protested at the construction of a purification plant and sewage networks project signed by the municipality the German government and the EU through German Development Bank. They protest at the project because of its proximity to the inhabitants’ houses the sources elaborated.
