The Israeli prison service (IPS) has sent cancer-stricken prisoner Nasser Abu Hamid back from Assaf Harofeh Hospital to the Ramla prison infirmary despite his serious health condition.

The Palestinian Commission of Detainees’ and Ex-Detainees’ Affairs said on Wednesday that Abu Hamid was transferred back to the Ramla prison despite his suffering from serious health complications including severe lung inflammation.

Yesterday Abu Hamid was taken urgently to the hospital after he suffered sharp pains in his chest back and abdomen according to the Commission.

Despite his life-threatening health condition the Israeli occupation authority still refuses to release Abu Hamid.

Recently the Commission of Detainees said that the cancer spread to other areas of Abu Hamid’s body including in the brain and bones.

It also said that he suffers from a sharp drop in weight severe pains all over his body and continuous muscle weakness.

A few months ago the prisoner suffered from a health problem in his lungs but the Israeli prison service delayed his transfer to hospital and medically neglected his issue before deciding to take him to the hospital.

Abu Hamid a 49-year-old from al-Am’ari refugee camp in Ramallah has been in jail since 2002 serving seven life sentences and an additional 50 years in prison. He has four brothers in jail who are also serving life sentences.
