Detained Hamas leader refuses to take medication for 17th day

Hamas leader Hasan al-Wardayan who is held in Israeli jail without trial or charge has been refusing to take his medication for the 17th day Friday to protest his administrative detention.

Wardayan who is diabetic needs daily intake of insulin. He has been in Israeli custody for 11 months without any charge or trial.

The 67-year-old detainee was arrested on 6/4/2021 from his home in eastern Bethlehem after searching and wreaking havoc on it.

His arrest followed his nomination for the Palestinian legislative elections which were later indefinitely postponed by Palestinian Authority chief Mahmoud Abbas.

The Hamas leader was previously held in Israeli jails for 20 years on different occasions.
