Hordes of Israeli settlers on Tuesday broke into al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem under heavy police guard.
Jerusalem’s Islamic Awqaf Department said that 47 Jewish settlers led by Israel’s former agriculture minister Uri Ariel and extremist rabbi Yehuda Glick stormed al-Aqsa Mosque in the early morning hours of Tuesday.
It added that the settlers carried out provocative tours inside the compound and some of them performed Talmudic rituals at Bab al-Rahma prayer area.
Meanwhile Israeli police tightened restrictions on the Palestinian worshipers entering the holy site and ordered many of them to stay outside the mosque.
