Egypt condemns Israel’s intents to raze Palestinian villages

Sunday 8-May-2022

Egypt has strongly denounced the Israeli occupation authority’s intents to demolish a number of Palestinian villages in Masafer Yatta area in the occupied West Bank stressing that “such practices undermine the chances of reaching a two-state solution and establishing a comprehensive and just peace in the region.”

In a statement on Saturday the Egyptian foreign ministry expressed great concern over the IOA’s intention to demolish a number of Palestinian villages in Masafer Yatta and “the consequent risk of displacing thousands of Palestinians from those villages.”

The ministry also affirmed its rejection of reports about the plan to build about 4000 new settler homes in the occupied Palestinian territories describing it as “a flagrant violation of the international law”.

Ambassador Ahmed Hafez spokesperson for the Egyptian foreign ministry also expressed the ministry’s condemnation of Israel’s settlement policy in the occupied Palestinian territories whether through building new settlements or expanding existing ones as well as its appropriation of lands and displacement of Palestinians.

He stressed that “continuing such unilateral measures leads to an increase in tension and contributes to fueling the cycle of violence.”
