Eight injured in clashes in Jenin over Jarrar’s assassination

Tuesday 6-February-2018

A state of anger prevailed on Tuesday in the northern West Bank city of Jenin following the assassination of Ahmad Jarrar by the Israeli occupation.

Islamic and national forces in Jenin called for a general strike and a mass demonstration after noon prayer toward the house of Jarrar’s family in Burqin village.

Spontaneous marches were witnessed in different areas of Jenin where the participants chanted slogans praising Jarrar and the Palestinian resistance and calling for revenge.

In a related context the Palestinian Red Crescent Society said in a brief statement that eight Palestinians were injured on Tuesday morning in clashes with the Israeli occupation forces in al-Yamun town to the northwest of Jenin.

Ahmad Jarrar was killed in an armed clash with Israeli special forces who stormed al-Yamun town in Jenin at dawn Tuesday and surrounded the residential building he was hiding in.

Local sources reported that the military operation lasted for hours during which the building was completely destroyed.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health later announced that it was officially informed by the Palestinian Civil Liaison of Jarrar’s martyrdom.
