Mohamed al-Emadi chairman of Qatar’s Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza met on Monday with Nickolay Mladenov UN special coordinator for the Middle East peace process at the UN headquarters in Occupied Jerusalem.
According to a press release issued by the reconstruction committee Emadi highlighted Qatar’s efforts to alleviate the suffering of the population in Gaza and the last decision by the Qatari Emir to support the Palestinian people with $480 million including 180 million for Gaza.
The two sides discussed the humanitarian situation in Gaza and the joint efforts to improve it especially with regard to electricity and relief and employment projects asserting the importance of continuing to help Gaza.
Mladenov affirmed during the meeting that the UN would continue its efforts to end the blockade on Gaza and heal the rift in the Palestinian arena expressing his appreciation to Qatar for its generous support for the Palestinian people.
