The current Qatari grant for Gaza has been earmarked only to help poor families improve electricity and address humanitarian issues while the issue of salaries will be dealt with later according to Qatari envoy Mohamed al-Emadi.

In a news conference held in Gaza on Tuesday evening Emadi said that $60 million of the $180 million allocated for Gaza would be used to improve electricity and $300 million would go to the Palestinian Authority.

The Qatari envoy head of the Gaza reconstruction committee said the contract to supply the power plant in Gaza with its fuel needs were extended until the end of the current year adding that there is a comprehensive plan to develop the electricity supply to Gaza.

He also said that Qatar would build a field hospital on 40 dunums of land on the northern border of Gaza to support the health sector in cooperation with USAID.

He pointed out that Gaza poor families would continue to receive cash assistance for six months adding that he would meet with Palestinian Authority chief Mahmoud Abbas and head of his government Mohamed Shtayyeh in Ramallah soon.

The Qatari official also affirmed that Qatar had conducted intensive contacts during the last military escalation in Gaza and managed to prevent it from spiraling into an all-out war.
