The Palestinian factions asked President Mahmoud Abbas not to impose new sanctions on Gaza Strip and called on him to visit Gaza in order to put an end to the internal division.
In a statement on Monday evening following a meeting with Hamas leaders in the office of Hamas’s leader in Gaza Yahya al-Sinwar the factions called for the importance of holding the Palestinian National Council with the participation of all of the factions including Hamas and Islamic Jihad Movements with accordance to the recommendations of Beirut Conference and Cairo Agreement.
The statement condemned the bombing attack that targeted Premier Rami al-Hamdallah’s motorcade during his visit to Gaza last Tuesday.
The factions called for cooperation between security forces in Gaza and the West Bank in order to expose those involved in the attack which aimed at foiling the reconciliation.
They also called the PLO Executive Committee convening on Monday evening in Ramallah not to impose any new sanctions on Gaza. The factions asked Abbas to protect the reconciliation and to pay a visit to Gaza in order to end the internal division and confront the US “deal of the century”.
