Major resistance factions in Gaza have applauded the Hamas Movement for showing keenness on ending the national division and sparing no effort to achieve the national reconciliation with its rivals in Ramallah.
In a joint statement on Tuesday the factions welcomed the initiative launched by Hamas to heal the rift in the Palesitnian arena which included its readiness to dissolve its administrative committee and enable the government in Ramallah to assume its duties in Gaza.
The factions urged the leadership of Fatah and the Palestinian Authority to respond positively to the initiative and lift its veto on its implementation of the agreements it had signed with Hamas to end the division.
The Palestinian factions’ statement came in response to the recent meeting that took place between a delegation from Hamas and the director of the Egyptian intelligence in Cairo.
The factions also thanked Egypt for its role in supporting the Palestinian cause and for its keen efforts to bring the Palestinian rivals together and help them end their differences.
The Hamas Movement on Monday said it was ready to enable the government of Rami al-Hamdallah to shoulder its responsibilities fully in Gaza.
