Families call for releasing relatives from PA jails for Eid holiday

Saturday 24-June-2017

The families of political detainees in West Bank jails have appealed to the Palestinian Authority (PA) to release their sons on the eve of the Eid al-Fitr holiday.

Some families said they wanted to mark the Eid holiday with their relatives who are being held for politically-motivated reasons in PA jails asserting that their absence would be very difficult for their families and their children during the occasion.

The family of university student Baraa Rihan who has been on hunger strike for four days in a PA jail expressed its fear over his life and appealed to the PA to release him and let him share the joy of Eid with his relatives.

The PA security apparatuses are holding dozens of young men because of their political affiliations and their involvement in anti-Israel activities and refuse to release some of them despite court orders for their release.
