The committee of political detainees in the West Bank called for releasing all of the political prisoners in light of the Palestinian reconciliation efforts and its anticipated talks in Cairo.
In a press statement on Saturday the committee said that over 150 violations were committed by the Palestinian Authority (PA) since the reconciliation efforts started. The number includes 40 cases of arrests over 100 cases of summonses and some other cases of hunger strike in protest at being detained illegally.
The committee also pointed out that some of the political captives have spent long imprisonment terms that exceeded ten years. The captives in PA jails also include others who had carried out anti-occupation attacks.
