Family home of al-Jamal reduced to rubble by Israeli forces

Wednesday 15-November-2017

The Israeli occupation forces at daybreak Wednesday knocked down the family home of the slain Palestinian protester Namer al-Jamal in Jerusalem’s town of Surik.

Israeli army troops and police patrols rolled into Beit Surik at the crack of dawn and cordoned off al-Jamal’s family home before they forced all the inhabitants out and turned the building into mounds of debris.

Speaking with the Palestinian Information Center local sources said the Israeli forces planted explosive devices in the three-story home and blew it up at one fell swoop.

A remarkable material damage was wrought on neighboring Palestinian homes as a result of the heavy blast.

Last week the Israeli forces handed over a demolition notification to the family ordering that they evacuate the home in no more than a week’s time.

At the time the family refused to receive the demolition writ. However the Israeli forces cordoned off the home and terrorized the family members forcing them to take delivery of the notification.

Al-Jamal 37 carried out an anti-occupation shooting attack at the entrance of Israel’s illegal settlement of Har Adar near Occupied Jerusalem on September 27. Three Israeli soldiers were pronounced dead and another wounded in the attack.

At the same time Israeli forces escorted by a heavily-equipped bulldozer demolished a two-story home under construction and covering an area of 350 square meters in al-Issawiya village in Occupied Jerusalem the house owner Ibrahim Salama told PIC.

Salama added that the Israeli forces prevented him from reaching out to his lawyer to appeal the demolition.

Over the past months Salama managed to obtain an order from Israeli courts ruling that demolitions targeting his home be not carried out.
