Former hunger striker released from Israeli jails

The Israeli Occupation Authorities (IOA) released on Monday the former hunger-striking prisoner Bilal Kayed from Asira al-Shamaliya village in the northern West Bank district of Nablus.

According to the PIC reporter Kayed was released from Hadarim prison after 15 years in detention.

Kayed was received by scores of people at Jabara checkpoint in Tulkarem.

Kayed launched a hunger strike for 71 days after the IOA sentenced him to administrative detention for six months on the day he was scheduled to be released from prison after serving a 14-and-a-half-year sentence.

He suspended his hunger strike after reaching an agreement with the IOA to end his administrative detention and release him on Dec. 12 2016.

Kayed was arrested in 2001 for alleged membership in the Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades the armed wing of the PFLP.

The Israeli Occupation Authorities (IOA) released Wednesday evening the Palestinian prisoner Shukri Assi after ending his administrative detention order a human rights group revealed.

Mohjat al-Quds institution affirmed that the prisoner had been engaged in an open hunger strike for 55 days last April in protest against his illegal administrative detention.

His strike was suspended after he reached an agreement with the Israeli Prison Service not to extend his administrative detention again.

Assi 31 spent nearly five years in Israeli jails in separate arrests most recently was in September 2015.
