Nour El-Marifa Association on Tuesday inaugurated a desalination project for drinking water funded by a British organization for Palestinian schools in the central province of the Gaza Strip.
An opening ceremony was held at al-Arouba High School in al-Nuseirat refugee camp and attended by scores of citizens and some officials from the education ministry and NGOs.
In a speech head of the association Abdul-Jalil Ghurab said that the students’ use of unhealthy water as a result of the high salinity rate in the aquifer prompted his association to seek funding to provide Gaza schools with desalination equipment.
According to him four schools will benefit from the project that was funded by the UK Islamic Mission.
