Dozens of journalists and paramedics on Monday staged a sit-in outside the camp of Return east of Khan Younis in Gaza in protest at the Israeli army’s targeting of media and ambulance crews during recent marches of return.
The participants carried banners and pictures of slain journalist Yasser Murtaji who died of a serious bullet injury he had sustained as he was covering Friday’s protests.
They demanded the international community to hold Israel accountable for its crimes against journalists and paramedics in Gaza.
Spokesman for the participants Wisam Radwan said that the killing of journalist Murtaji was part of an Israeli systematic practice aimed at muzzling the press and hiding the truth.
He emphasized that the targeting of journalists in particular would never dissuade them from conveying their media message and exposing Israel’s crimes against Palestinian protesters in Gaza.
