Gazan families visit relatives in Israeli jails

A new batch of Gaza’s families was allowed to pass through the Israeli-run Beit Hanoun (Erez) border-crossing at daybreak Monday to visit their relatives in Israeli prisons.

Spokeswoman for the International Red Cross Committee Suheir Zaqout said 32 Palestinians from the blockaded Gaza Strip among them 11 children headed to Nafha lock-up to visit 18 Palestinian detainees.

Nearly 700 Palestinian detainees are incarcerated in the Nafha desert dungeon where the conditions of captivity have been abject.

Over 7000 Palestinian prisoners are locked up in Israeli penitentiaries including 380 Gazans.

A new batch of Gaza’s families were allowed access out of the besieged enclave at daybreak Monday to visit their relatives in Israeli jails.

Spokeswoman for the International Red Cross Committee Suheir Zaqout said 22 Palestinians from the blockaded Gaza Strip among them two children headed to the Israeli Nafha desert lock-up to visit 17 imprisoned relatives.

Over 6000 Palestinian prisoners are locked up in Israeli penitentiaries where they have been denied their basic human rights most notably the right to family visits.

A new batch of Gaza’s families were allowed to pass through the Israeli-run Beit Hanoun (Erez) border-crossing at daybreak Monday to visit their relatives in Israeli jails.

Spokeswoman for the International Red Cross Committee Suheir Zaqout said 43 Palestinians from the blockaded Gaza Strip among them 13 children headed to Nafha lock-up to visit 24 Palestinian detainees.

Over 6000 Palestinian prisoners are locked up in Israeli penitentiaries including 350 Gazans. At least 206 detainees were pronounced dead as a result of medical neglect in Israeli jails.
