Greenblatt: White House to hold meeting to discuss situation in Gaza

Friday 9-March-2018

A US official said on Thursday that the White House will convene a meeting next week to discuss the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.

The US president Donald Trump’s envoy to the Middle East Jason Greenblatt wrote in an article in the Washington Post that a brainstorming session will be held at the White House next week to find “real solutions” to the Gaza crisis.

Greenblatt said that ideas on ways to develop Gaza’s economy and improve its living conditions will be discussed.

He added that the meeting will be held in response to the growing humanitarian crisis in Gaza pointing out that key countries are preparing to act. A spokesman for Greenblatt declined to say who the countries are.

The Gaza Strip is suffering from an unprecedented economic collapse in view of the sanctions imposed by the Palestinian Authority and the 12-year Israeli blockade.
