Haj Muhammad al-Najjar a founder of Muslim Brotherhood in Palestine dies

KHAN YOUNIS (PIC)– Haj Muhammad al-Najjar one of the founders and a prominent leader of the Muslim Brotherhood in Palestine died on Friday at the age of 84 years.

PIC correspondent said that Haj al-Najjar died after a long fight with illness at the European hospital in Khan Younis. His funeral will take place today from the Grand Mosque in Khan Younis.

Haj Najjar was born in 1927 in Khan Younis. He was amongst the first leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood in the Gaza Strip as he joined the movement in 1950 and cooperated with Sheikh Ahmad Yassin to rebuild the movement after the 1967 occupation.

Despite his limited formal education he was an active and eloquent preacher much loved by his audiences in the various mosques of the Gaza Strip.

He was also active in charity work in the Gaza Strip and occupied the post of Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Rahma Charitable Society until his death.
